Talented engineering students celebrated as winners of the SAS Competition sending them to Copenhagen, Denmark to explore study and career opportunities
Monday 19th of March 2012 the six winners of the SAS Competition were celebrated by the Danish Consul General Susanne Hyldelund in Shanghai. The highly talented engineering students from Shanghai will 26th to 31st of March 2012 travel to Denmark to explore study and career opportunities, meeting Danish universities and companies in a high profiled program.
The six winning students have been carefully selected among the more than 360 applications for the SAS Competition that Innovation Centre Denmark, Shanghai received. After having 13 candidates to further interviews the six winners were finally selected by a specially appointed committee. “The winners are extraordinary talents in terms of GPA-score, personal motivation, English skills, social skills and personality. We are very impressed by the applications in terms of both motivations and qualifications. It only testifies the high quality of Chinese universities, education and students within engineering” says committee member Lars Christensen, Science and Technology Consul at Innovation Centre Denmark, Shanghai.
In her speech to the students Consul General Susanne Hyldelund emphasized the outstanding qualifications of the six winning students, and expressed her hope that the winners will choose Denmark as destination for their further studies, career and life after this unique trip. “I hope by sharing your experiences, you will help us promote living in Denmark to more talented Chinese students”, Susanne Hyldelund said.
A dream coming true
For all the six winning students it will be their first trip to Europe, and for many the first trip outside of China. A trip that will make an impact to their further choice of studies and career.
“Students like us are all top talents in our own research field, dreaming of making a contribution to the world by our research. With this chance to go to Denmark and get more knowledge about the Danish engineering industry and research development in the Danish engineering universities, we can broaden our eyesight and look further than China in accomplishing our dream and choosing the next step in our career. I am so excited to go to Denmark in the company of the other five outstanding students,” says winning student Hu Minfei, Energy Engineering student from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
